I'm Matt Jones, a licensed architect and founder of Ante Forma Architecture in Greenville, South Carolina.Over the past 19 years, I've worked across mixed-use, multifamily, hospitality, commercial, adaptive reuse, education, and residential projects. That experience has taught me that successful projects depend on more than good design. They depend on good decisions, clear communication, and a team willing to work toward the same goal.Before starting Ante Forma, I led MHK Architecture's Greenville commercial studio, managing complex projects, multidisciplinary teams, client relationships, approvals, and project delivery. I started Ante Forma to bring that experience into a smaller, more direct practice — one where clients work closely with the architect leading their project from day one.

The team matters.

The best projects are collaborative. A good client, architect, contractor, and consultant team can solve an enormous number of problems when everyone communicates openly and stays focused on what's right for the project.That collaboration also makes the work better. The owner understands the goals and priorities. The architect helps shape those ideas into a coherent whole. The contractor brings the knowledge of how things actually come together. Engineers and consultants add another layer of expertise where it matters.When those perspectives work together instead of against one another, the project becomes more than any one person could have produced alone. That's the kind of team I want Ante Forma to help build.

The work has to work.

A project has to respond to its site, support the client's goals, navigate approvals, respect the budget, and make sense to build. Good design should strengthen those things, not compete with them.That means asking the right questions early. What should be built? What can be built? What matters most? Where are the risks? And how do we keep the idea intact as the project moves from concept to construction?I see design, planning, entitlement, documentation, and construction as one continuous process. That's the thinking behind Ante Forma: the work that happens before form takes shape matters just as much as the form itself.
